Pastika Encourages Bangli Regency Eyeing at Tourism Sector

Governor of Bali Made Mangku Pastika, encouraged Bangli Regency government to look at the tourism sector as a part of efforts to boost the local revenue.

“Bangli should work harder to boost its revenue by not only rely on agriculture and plantations, but began to look at the tourism sector,” he said during a working visit to Bangli Regency on Thursday.

Although eventually tourism will be developed in this region, he advised not to leave the agricultural sector. The best thing is to make the concept of tourism development that is supported by agriculture.

In the region, which is famous for its cool weather, there are some excellent tourism objects such as Lake and Mount Batur, Pura Ulundanu Batur, Kintamani area, Penglipuran, Trunyan Village, Museum of Volcanology Batur, Kehen Temple and so on.

On the other hand, Pastika said that Bangli regency to be one of regencies in Bali that is a priority in poverty reduction program because until recently the area contributes to 5,6 percent of poverty rate or below the average overall of Bali at 3.9 percent.

“It is a task for the Bali government to reduce poverty. I asked the Regent to immediately specify the need of Bangli regency and submit it to the province, in order to be budgeted through the Bali provincial budget, if possible before March it is complete,” he said.

He also asked for the programs proposed by Bangli must be synergizing to Bali provincial government program.

In order to accelerate poverty reduction, Pastika invited Bangli to request additional units of Integrated Farming Systems Program (Simantri) or Integrated Village Development Movement (Gerbangsadu) so as to improve the economy of the people in villages.

Meanwhile, in his presentation, Bangli Regent, I Made Gianyar, said that the local government has been working very hard. With little funding and a lack of human resources, Bangli seemed left behind compared to other regencies.
