Forecasts for week beginning Saturday February 15, 2014.

By Jonathan Cainer

Mercury is still slipping slowly backwards through the zodiac, to the point where it has now returned to a sign it left last month. Anyone who now holds a strong opinion about anything may find this week’s cosmic climate obliges them to wonder if they can be quite so sure of what they once believed. As we edge towards the end of the month, a sharp alignment from Jupiter to Uranus echoes much the same theme. I’m sure of this. Or at least, as sure as I can be in a week when nobody is quite sure of anything!

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Someone wants to tell you something and you, in turn, are the keeper of information that is better expressed than repressed. You are nervous, though, about this impending exchange. What if you hear something that you don’t like? What if you say something you shouldn’t? What if an attempt to create clarity causes confusion? These are risks that you will have to take. You will start to become far better off, once a process of courageous communication has fully taken place. Trust yourself… and your luck.

TAURUS(April 21 – May 21)
It is not just politicians who will say almost anything to anyone, if it seems to suit their purpose. Among the world’s great romantics too, a similar fluidity is often found. Poets will say almost anything as long as it sounds evocative. Artists will paint almost anything as long as they can express some emotion. Some lovers will promise almost anything as long as it gets them loved. Watch what you say (and what you allow yourself to be told) this week. And watch what you allow yourself to truly believe. Be realistic and you will be fine.
GEMINI(May 22 – June 22)
A watched pot never boils – or so they say. This is patently poppycock. Of course it boils – it just seems to take longer because it is subject to such scrutiny. Feel free to keep a close eye your pot this week. Feel free, indeed, to focus intently on any simmering preoccupation. But stop short of actively stirring the bubbling cauldron. Keep your wooden spoon safely by your side. Remember, ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’. And if you ain’t sure whether or not it is broke, it probably ain’t. Give a problem time to fix itself and be patient.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Our language is full of taboo words and unacceptable phrases. They may be only letters of the alphabet arranged in a particular order but in their power to cause offence, they might as well be weapons. Strangely, though, even in the most polite society, we permit language capable of wreaking profound psychological devastation. Words like ‘should’ or ‘ought to’ or, even worse, ‘if only’. Strike such expressions from your vocabulary this week. Speak only about that which creates a sense of inspiration, not regret or obligation.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Why keep doing what you have always done? You are not obliged, this week, to live through a repetition of some familiar drama. It may seem as if you are just going round in circles but if you look carefully, you will see that you are not passing all the points that you might expect. Yet when we imagine that we are just going round and round, we make ourselves feel dizzy and then we can’t be sure where we are or what’s going on. Straighten out some key facts and become clear about what you need. Then you will see how to get it.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
What do you believe in? And what are you sure that you never will believe in? Your answers will prove crucial this week – provided they are honest and not just platitudes or pretences. You can’t just hang on to something you were once taught to have faith in. Your beliefs have got to be forged in your own fire, tried in your own court, nurtured in your own heart and clear in your own mind. Soon, events will cause you to doubt many old assumptions. Where your faith is deep and true, good things will come to you.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Your strength is being sapped. You are tempted to confront bravely the apparent source of the problem. Isn’t that like walking up to some rampaging dragon, clutching a local-area smoke suppression notice? Even in the unlikely event of this beast being able to read and the even more unlikely event of it being willing to obey the law, it will burn you with the flame from its mouth as it starts to apologise! There are times when it’s appropriate to tackle trouble and times when it’s wiser to wait till you’ve got what you need to back you up.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
It is never a good idea to push your luck. It is, though, always wise to let your luck push you. Set up a psychic weather vane. Find some way to detect the direction in which the wind of fortune is blowing. Then set your sail. It sounds simple… and it is… unless you have a fixed idea about where you ought to be going or what you should be doing, you are going to baulk at the notion of abandoning this commitment and setting out in search of some other objective. But a little flexibility this week, will pay a great dividend.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
You have not swapped optimism for pessimism, merely idle fancy for realism. You already know a lot more about what you are doing and why it needs to succeed. You will soon gain insight into precisely which plan to pursue. Trust your judgement this week, even if others urge you to accept their criticisms and change your ideas. You have learned lessons. Now you need to apply them. Once you move on and trust that your new insights are reliable, you’ll soon make up for any ground that you have lately lost.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
We all have strong ideas about how things are supposed to be. But our expectations rarely match the reality. Some dramas and problems refuse to comply with our wishes and beliefs. Right now, you are dealing with a difficulty that is drawing a lot of your energy and concentration. You’ve got a lot to do. But think of the relief you will feel once you’ve taken care of the task in hand. What’s happening is right. Don’t worry. Just do what you need to do while remaining optimistic and open-minded this week.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Our imaginations can take us in seconds, from Brisbane to Borneo and back via Bangor. We can envisage any possibility, no matter how remote. But our imaginations can’t cope with some realities, like the fact that time has no beginning and no end. That’s too mind-boggling for any of us. We have similar troubles when we try to think about deep emotions. Feelings belong to the heart not the head. They are, though, very important. In your life now, logic must take second place to sensitivity. That’s nothing to fear.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
You are now like someone who has just run a marathon. You are physically drained but mentally still prepared to keep pushing on. It hasn’t yet sunk in that the race is over and the pressure is off. In the war against a recurring source of stress, you have recently won your biggest battle so far, even if you don’t yet realise it. Coming events should show you how far things have moved on. You’ll feel far better in a few days. Or, at least, you will – provided you remember that you are now fully entitled to relax.
