Buleleng New Airport will Accelerate Bali Economy

DENPASAR ~

The candidate of Regional Representative Council (DPD) from Bali, Anak Agung Ngurah Putu Wirawan said that the construction of a new airport in Buleleng Regency would further accelerate economic growth in Bangli Regency and Bali Province in general.

“As an infrastructure expert, I hope that the construction of a new airport in Buleleng, along with infrastructure and supporting facilities such as toll roads soon could be realized,” he said in Denpasar on Tuesday.

He said that the new airport in Buleleng will be located in Kubutambahan area, which is close to Bangli, Karangasem and Badung.

“If the new airport in Kubutambahan is realized, then the economy in Bangli regency and surrounding areas will grow more rapidly,” he said.

Especially if it is supported by the construction of the bypass, he said, the economy that had been piling up in the Southern part of Bali will be more evenly distributed.

“So the highway corridor will develop, because these areas are influenced by economic improvement,” he said.

He pointed out when the plan to build Bali Mandara toll road connecting Benoa, Ngurah Rai and Nusa Dua got many challenges from the society.

“But with socialization and support from the government and state-owned enterprises, the road now provides tremendous benefit. It also is able to parse traffic jam in the intersection of Dewa Ruci, Kuta,” said the politician from Denpasar.

Therefore, he said, people should get together to provide support to the government so that the plan of establishing new airport in Buleleng and highways connecting Denpasar and Buleleng soon to be realized.

what a load of banteng kotoran.

an airport in buleleng will make no difference to the regional or balinese economy.

the only beneficiaries will be the bank accounts of the legislators and the contractors.

north bali died because of the traffic congestion coupled with the increased easy access to east bali.

there is still the philosophical question.

does bali utara have enough attractions to ‘steal’ tourists from bali selatan?

    my feeling is no.

maybe the smart future is in commodity support and supply for the south.

maybe there needs to be a recognition of unique northern attributes. and i mean an honest, ball tearing look. don’t go overboard. underplay.

for example, the pearl industry is not promoted as a tourist site. how many starving hotels in the area offer day trips?
