Regent Complains Traffic Jam at Denpasar-Gilimanuk Track

NEGARA ~

Negara Regent, I Putu Artha complained about traffic jam at Gilimanuk-Denpasar road when welcomed working visit of the Governor of Bali, I Made Mangku Pastika, in Negara Regency on Thursday.

He said that at about 100 kilometers along the road, accidents often happen because the dense flow of vehicles both trucks, buses, private cars and motorcycles.

“Almost all the vehicles coming from Java to Bali and vice versa passing this road because it is closer than through Buleleng Regency. Consequently, there are often traffic jam and accidents,” he said.

According to him, the negative impact for Negara Regency related to the road condition is that it is difficult to invite the central high officials such as ministers to the region because the long distance from Denpasar was combined with a dense road.

“Denpasar – Gilimanuk road is also easily getting damaged, which we think, because the vehicles’ load exceeds the capacity of the road strength,” he said.

To overcome this situation, he claimed to build a cargo terminal at Gilimanuk Village, so that containers weighed at Gilimanuk weighbridge exceeds the maximum, it can be dropped off at the terminal.

Related to this complaint, the Governor, I Made Mangku Pastika, said that he also often receives complaints about Denpasar – Gilimanuk road, which will overcome it by build a toll road from Denpasar to Pekutatan District, Jembrana, Negara.

According to him, for the construction of the toll road, a third party is needed so that the government does not need to spend money.

He also expressed his support for Jembrana regency plan to build cargo terminal in Gilimanuk, by directly ordering the Bali Provincial Transportation Department to follow up the plan.

He also expected that with a visit to the regencies/ city which he did could avoid grouping of development program between the central, provincial and regencies/ city.
