President becomes Honorary Resident of Tampaksiring, Bali


Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and wife Ani Yudhoyono,  were appointed as honorary residents of Tampaksiring Village, Gianyar Regency, Bali.

“It’s an honor to be called Semeton Tamu Utama. Me and my wife gratefully, accept it with honor and pride,” said the President in an event held at Puseh Temple Tampaksiring Village.

The process of becoming honorary residents was conducted through reading an excerpt by the Bendesa (religious leader) of Tampaksiring Village, I Ketut Runtut.

“The customary village, Tampaksiring District, Bendesa, now appoint Mr. and Mrs. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono as Semeton Tamu Utama,” Ketut Runtut said.

The representative of Tampaksiring Village said that the title is given as a form of gratitude.

Tampaksiring Village also hopes that the President and his wife are blessed with safety and health by the Almighty God, both during and after Yudhoyono’s presidency.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that he is inspired every time he visits Bali.

On the meet and greet with people in Tampaksiring, he said that during his almost ten years of being President, he and his wife often visit and work at Tampaksiring palace.

“We love Tampaksiring Palace and I want the place that established by Bung Karno to be used for both country business, governmental and social affairs,” said the President.

Bali is also often chosen as an important international events venue such as the Climate Change Summit, the ASEAN Summit, the East Asia Summit and the 2013 APEC Summit.

In addition, President Yudhoyono also admitted that he often get inspiration to compose songs and poems when in Bali.

“Certainly there are many sweet and beautiful memories here,” he said.

Referring to the novel entitled “Eat, Pray and Love” by Elizabeth Gillbert, President Yudhoyono said that if you want to find love and peace, Bali is the right place.
