Kuta-Tanah Lot Toll Road Urged to be Started Soon

MANGUPURA ~

The discourse to build a toll road that will connect Kuta and Tanah Lot has been begun since few years ago especially to smoothen the traffic between the two most visited tourism objects in Bali.

Member of Badung Regency Legislative Council (DPRD) Wayan Puspa Negara, urged Bali Provincial Government to speed up the construction of a toll over rice field.

“Bali provincial government should be proactive in communicating this plan with the central government to speed up the construction of the toll road,” he said in Mangupura, Badung regency.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Public Works (PU), Achmad Hermanto Dardak said that the plan to build toll road connecting Kuta, Badung regency – Soka (Tabanan regency) is already included in the analysis phase.

“Plan for toll road construction has already entered the analysis phase. Currently we are waiting for the results of the analysis to be followed up in the next process,” he said.

He said that if the analysis is completed, then it will be the next development plan, including land acquisition, which will be used for the road.

“The construction of the highway should be synergized with the central and local government and other agencies. Because to build a highway requires high cost,” he said.

According to Achmad Hermanto, the government continues to make improvement on trans-national traffic, such as from Gilimanuk, Jembrana towards Padangbai (Karangasem).

“Because at this route the road conditions are quite dense and the road topography is difficult, especially containers and vehicles transporting goods passing through the route. Thus, the government through the Ministry of Public Works conducted a study to reduce sharp turns and inclines,” he said.

Therefore, he said that along these routes a shortcut should be made and to widen the road, so it can be reduced by at least ten percent from its original condition.

“The shortcut along the road of Denpasar – Gilimanuk now has been built, among other is the shortcut bridge in Tukad Ho, Tabanan regency,” he said.

It is expected that construction of the bypass road is able to accelerate the traffic pace and reduce the risk of dangerous road.

How about doing something to improve existing roads first.
Get professional advice, from countries who know what they’re doing. Before any of the above, how about international standard sewage and waste management.
