Denpasar Immigration Deport 22 Foreigners due to Permit Violations

Immigration Office Class I Denpasar, Bali, during the period 2013-2014 has deported 22 foreigners who violate immigration permit during 2013-2014.

“We have a team of surveillance and immigration enforcement for monitoring activities on foreigners,” said the Head of Immigration Office Class I Denpasar, BambangWisnu Wardana, in Denpasar on Tuesday.

According to him, dozens of foreigners from various countries were deported in 2013-2014.

Bambang further explained that enforcement is difficult as only six officers oversee five regencies and one municipality.

Nevertheless, it has been cooperating with police, the labor department and the tourism department to oversee foreigners.

The officers, said Bambang, also intensively visited a number of institutions found to employ expatriate such as a foreign language educational institutions to check the residence permit.

“We are proactive by directly going to the educational institutions that employ foreigners as there are several other cases related to foreigners abusing the permit,” he said.

The last deportation cases that attracted much attention was the case of two Australian journalists who violated the rules of entering Bali by using the “visa on arrival” but they actually worked to cover to the parole proceedings for a drug convict, Schepelle Leigh Corby.
