Feng Shui Body, Mind and Soul

By S.BS. Surendran

There are  days  in our lives when  we feel  uninspired ,  things  don’t  work the way we would want to, feel  fed up with the daily drudge, lacking enthusiasm and motivation, and no energy to even move on .

Feng Shui attributes  such feelings primarily to stagnating or blocked energies. The energy which flows around us and through us known as  life-force energy – “chi”  does affect us although one cannot  see it but can surely  feel its effects.  The quality of this energy is important to our well-being and we have the ability to make it work for us or against us.

Free-flowing energy  which is  balanced and healthy  reflects  the balance and harmony in our mind, body and life eliminating sickness . On the other hand, when the energy is blocked and stagnating  it creates  imbalance, disharmony and  will affect everything in its path, including  the occupants of a building.

Adapting the time tested methods of Feng Shui one could transform and manipulate the energies which  can have powerful effects, and most often just small changes can bring about  positive results.  The changes would  help to improve the way you feel internally and externally , clear the  body, mind and soul and bring in a feel of rejuvenation and enhance confidence and motivation.

We are reflections of our personal environment because we absorb the energy which surrounds us . Our mind and body reacts and responds to the energies we are surrounded  as  this energy flows around us and through us.

Here are six simple Feng Shui tips for creating a home that nourishes your body, mind and spirit
• Clean your space and clear clutter – as Clutter disrupts your life. When it’s rampant, you feel stressed about everything. Make sure that your bedroom, closet and bathroom are in order. Most importantly begin your day with  a  calm mind and positive feel.
• Get more sleep by creating a wonderful place to rest your head at night- for a peaceful and complete sleep,  ensure that the bed is in the back corner of the room, diagonally opposite to the door as  this protects from fast moving energy entering into the space
• Choose colors that help you unwind- lavenders, greens, peaches and other soothing earth tones into your home you could also identify a  color which makes you feel nice and calm, adapt it into your space. Try lighting a blue, lavender or crème colored candle for relaxation.
• Surround yourself with an abundance of light, fresh air and greenery. Open the doors and windows and invite nature in. As night draws near, avoid bright light for at least an hour before bed.
• Soothing sounds of nature make for a calming environment- Play soothing music which connects you to nature. When your space is calm, your thoughts slow down and you can begin to hear the guidance from your soul and your spirit is renewed.
• Finally, Remove your shoes before entering your home. Make it a ritual to leave the stress of your job, traffic jams and bad days outside it is also symbolic of casting off the worries and troubles, as well as the dirt, of the outside world.  This  makes your home a haven, only allowing peaceful energy to come inside.
