British Woman Found Dead in Ubud, Murderer Arrested in Jakarta


Perpetrator of the murder of a British tourist, Anne Marie Kathryn Drozdz (52) with initial H, was arrested with the cooperation of Bali Police officers and City Police in Jakarta.

“The perpetrator has been arrested in Jakarta,” said Bali Police Chief, Inspector General Albertus Julius Benny Mokalu, in Tampaksiring, Gianyar regency, on Saturday.

According to Albertus Julius Benny Mokalu, the perpetrator who is known from Karawang, West Java captured by Buru Sergap Team from the two regional police on Friday in Jakarta.

From a number of clues and evidence found in the results of the crime scene simulation, the murder perpetrator is known to work as a construction worker.

The perpetrator is planned to be flown from Jakarta to Bali for further investigation.

It is alleged that the motive behind the murder is the robbery at the villa where the victim stayed.

Previously, the tourism on the island again was surprised by the discovery of a British tourist, Anne Marie Kathryn Drozdz who was killed in a villa in the area of Banjar Junjungan, Ubud Village, Gianyar on Thursday (22/5).

A number of injuries found on the victim’s body such as cuts and bruises on the neck and the wound on the left arm.

The victim was first found by his friend, Gery Hening Williams (60) at 05.00 pm that came about to deliver a towel into the victim’s room.

However, when he arrived at the house, the victim’s friend found the front door of the house was broken.

Then he came in and immediately panicked seeing Anne Marie was dead lying on the floor of her room.

The victim’s face was covered by a black cloth and there were pools of blood that had started to dry. Then the valuables belonging to the victim was also missing.

While the body is currently at the Sanglah General Hospital Center, Denpasar. The autopsy is not done yet since the forensic unit still waiting for the recommendation from the victim’s family, eventhough there has been a request for autopsy from the British Embassy.
