Forecasts for week beginning Saturday June 14, 2014.

By Jonathan Cainer

A retrograde Mercury heralds a time or reflection and review, during which many of us tend to do better if we focus on the past (and what we can learn from it) rather than on the future (and what we can gain from it.) It’s true that sometimes, under a retrograde Mercury, we have little choice but to slow down as processes get delayed and communications become confused;, but this week, as Mercury slips back into the sign it left late last month, we will also gain an advantage from revisiting deals that we thought were done and dusted.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
The hardest ideas to grasp are, usually, the most obvious. We can see into the far distance more easily than we can see what’s directly under our nose. You have struggled to make sense of a confusing situation. You have searched for a plan that will work or a solution that will satisfy everyone who needs to be satisfied. In doing this, you have overlooked one simple, basic but wonderful truth. As this dawns on you, you may at first feel it is irrelevant. Slowly, though, this week, great inspiration and enlightenment will arrive.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Venus remains in your sign. Whatever you feel, you feel it more than you felt it before. And where you don’t feel something, you feel the absence of the feeling. You notice the sense of emptiness. You can’t just pretend that there’s no crack in the wall by hanging a picture over it. Actually, you will be back to something resembling normality sooner than you think. Meanwhile, relish this chance to get in touch with an emotion it’s all too easy to ignore. In recognising a problem this week, you are half way to solving it.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
It often seems as if everyone is out to prove a point to everyone else. We are all constantly making comparisons: who am I doing better than? Wow, am I doing worse than? Who am I equal to? What is this strange need that human beings feel to measure themselves against one another? Simply by caring too much about our status or position, we become losers! There is no one in this whole wide world who is ‘better than you’. Remember that and move on this week. That in itself will turn you into a magnet for positive change.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Everything in the world can be explained through logical, rational, thought. There is no such thing as a mystery that can’t be solved. Or so, at least, some people believe. In order to maintain this delusion, they have to turn their attention far away from all things emotional and spontaneous – and see life as nothing other than some strange, mathematical coincidence entirely without higher purpose or spiritual meaning. Don’t waste your time trying to justify a feeling this week. Just be glad of what you feel – and trust it.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
The best thing you can possibly do this week is nothing! Really! Try it! When I say nothing, I don’t mean absolutely nothing. I don’t mean lie on your back and refuse to move – even to eat or answer the door. I mean a slightly different sort of nothing. Nothing… as in: not very much. Nothing… as in: don’t respond to aggravation or feel obliged to chase after temptation. Nothing… as in: be passive. You don’t need to make a great effort. You are more favoured than you think. What you truly need will soon come naturally to you.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Bit by bit, you are making progress. Could you be going any faster? Not without risking the sustainability of your success. The trouble is, we live in a world full of seemingly instant solutions. You want this? Just press that. You are hungry? Just go get a ready meal. When there is need, there is always a desire for speed. Somehow then, you need to reduce the intensity of the need. That’s more easily achieved than you might think. Have faith. See the future as your friend, not your enemy. Then relax. You will reach it soon enough.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
There is no need to argue this week. But then, when is there ever such a need? People rarely argue because they have to, they usually argue because they want to. If there is a genuine need to inform someone about the importance of an alternate view, isn’t it better to embark on a process of education and explanation? Arguments never convince anyone of anything. Why, then, is someone arguing with you now? What is their true agenda? Don’t get drawn into a fight and don’t draw someone else into one either.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Soon you will be helped to acquire something valuable. This may or may not be a physical item. It may be that you are about to adopt a new attitude or to gain a fresh perspective. Whatever it is, it will prove precious. Wherever there are questions in your life this week, be they financial, emotional or physical, you will soon find yourself looking at answers. You need to get used to a new perception of your own self-image. It’s time to think of yourself as someone who is much desired, admired and inspired. Because you are.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
One man’s meat is another man’s poison. Unless of course, the meat has not been properly cooked. In which case, it can play both roles for the same person. You are now dealing with something that is perfectly safe. You have, though, an antipathy towards it. This is creating both a prejudice and a negative expectation. When we imagine that something is going to go wrong, we can get so far into the fantasy that we subtly influence the situation and produce problems where none need exist. Forgive the past; trust the future.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Not all friendships last forever and nor are all feuds eternal. Some people argue one day and agree the next. Even the most heinous crimes can eventually be forgiven if a desire to move on is strong and sincere enough on both sides. Don’t get caught up in the way things used to be. Even where doors have been firmly shut, there is now a chance that they may open. Ask positive questions; expect encouraging answers. If you believe that a good outcome is possible, you may yet make valuable progress.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
There is a very big difference between not having something, and having it but not knowing you have it. There is a difference too, between either of the above and knowing that you have it, but not knowing where you put it. The first question to resolve this week is whether you have lost something? Or have you just misplaced it? Even if the answer is ‘neither’, because you never had it in the first place, you are not as far as you fear from whatever it is that you require. One way or another, this week will show you that.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Some people search for the secret of eternal youth. Others are on a quest for the source of perpetual happiness. Their objective is the same. If you want to stay young, you must learn to be happy. If you want to stay happy, you must learn how to be young. But is it age that makes us angry, jaded and bitter? It need not do any of these things. Age has the capacity to make us wise. And how do we become wise? By recognising that no matter how old we get, we can make new discoveries, like the ones you’ll make this week.
