Prabowo Declares Indonesia Not a Threat for Australia


Indonesian president candidate, Prabowo Subianto said that Indonesia is not a threat to Australia regarding the relationship between the two countries.

“We’re not a threat to Australia. Because we want to be friend with Australia. Then our obligation is to make sure that we want to be good neighbor,” Prabowo said in a president candidate debate for the third time on Sunday night.

According to Prabowo, the ups and downs of relationship problem between the two countries seem lies in Australia that ie often suspicious to Indonesia.

It happened because a few times Indonesia had conducted a military action that might cause concern to Australia.

“The problem lies not in Indonesia, but Australia has suspicions or phobias to Indonesia,” he said.

Furthermore, Prabowo said that Indonesian should firmly maintain the core of national interests in developing relationships with other countries.

“We have no problem with Australia,” he said.

The president candidate debate between Prabowo Subianto and Joko Widodo for the third time has the theme of International Politics and National Security.

The presidential election on July 9, 2014 is followed by two president and vice president pairs, i.e. Prabowo Subianto – Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo – Jusuf Kalla.
