AP Proposes Route to Kuta Not Passing through Airport

PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai International Airport suggested that the route to Kuta, precisely on Jalan Ngurah Rai do not pass the road at the airport because it creates traffic jam.

“We expect the way to Kuta do not passing through the airport, for the road from ‘Harris’ should be one lane from north so that the load of departures (passenger) unencumbered,” said CO-General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I Ngurah Rai International Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, in Kuta, Badung regency, on Friday.

According to him, the two-way traffic towards Kuta and the airport cause congestion especially during the long holiday season and the end of the year.

“The path to the airport depending on timing,” he said.

He revealed that the proposal came after seeing the conditions in the field as well as the complaints of less comfortable due to congestion at the specific time in the path leading to the airport.

He stated that it is currently still coordinating with local government and other relevant agencies.

Especially at this time in some parts of the airport, including domestic departure terminal is still under construction and arrangement so that the traffic of heavy equipment and pick-up cars often passing the area.

In addition, proposing a one-way lane, Ngurah Rai International Airport is currently designing a special motorcycle parking displacement regarding the two floors parking lot has exceeded its capacity.

“We have a concept of the future and still works on the detail,” said I Gusti Ngurah Ardita.

According to him, special motorcycle parking is planned to be moved to an area near the fueling stations (gas stations) in the airport area or located exactly in front of Ngurah Rai Customs-Quarantine Office.

Later for the passengers, deliveries or employees who use motorcycle should park their vehicle at the venue for being transported using a “shuttle bus” provided exclusively by the airport.

“We’re still counting in the evaluation of how the need (bus) and others,” he said.

Later the “shuttle bus” will pick up and drop off passengers at the terminal either domestic or international to stop at the new motorcycle parking lot.

In addition to over capacity, the distance of motorcycle parking to the terminal and the density of traffic entering the airport area are also taken into consideration by the manager to move the parking lot.
