Forecasts for week beginning Saturday, July 26, 2014

By Jonathan Cainer

Under this week’s Dark of The Moon, Mars slips into Scorpio. That’s good news for all born under the sign of the Scorpion or, as many modern astrologers prefer to call it, the sign of the Eagle. Many ancient texts suggest an association between this sector of the sky and that most noble bird. But it’s not just keen-eyed, high-flying, deeply principled Scorpios who benefit from this celestial development. To some extent, we all become more observant, aspirational and idealistic. This is a good week for anyone now dedicating their life to a worthwhile cause or purpose’.

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Never underestimate the impact that you have on the people around you. You may sometimes think you are being ignored but you make a powerful impression. Some people are shy of you because they feel secretly attracted. Others fear that your razor-sharp insights will reveal aspects of themselves that they would prefer to keep hidden. And some very brave souls are wise enough to see that, for all your strength, you too need help from time to time. The New Moon suggests that a wonderful exchange will soon occur.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Paracetamol? It’s in the second drawer down. Bicarbonate of soda? I think there’s some in the bathroom. Try some fresh fruit juice. That helps with just about everything. It seems you are in a delicate state. If a problem is not physical, it may be psychological. Perhaps an oppressive person or factor is making you feel troubled and trapped. But if you are looking closely at all the factors that are unacceptable, you are already on the road to recovery. It means you are getting ready to make a very healthy decision.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
You are in the process of receiving a profound education. Each day, you’re finding out more about a particular matter. You think you know someone? You’re constantly learning more about what this individual is really like. Is that bad? Only if you want to remain in a state of comfortable assumption. There’s nothing wrong with the reality – other than that it doesn’t exactly match your fantasy about it! The more you tune in to the truth this week, though, the better off you will be – financially as well as emotionally.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
The beating of a butterfly’s wing in one part of the world can, in theory, create air currents that cause a hurricane on some other part of the Earth. Under the right circumstances, that is. This is a very famous assertion often quoted by great experts. But they haven’t got a clue whether it’s actually true. How are you supposed to test a hypothesis like that? We might say much the same about the links we begin to see between various events in your life. Don’t be too quick to take responsibility for something that is not your fault.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)
We have all the time in the world. Our spirits are eternal. We come from, and will one day return to, the infinite. That’s why we get ourselves into such a tizz. It is only here, during this brief visit to the mortal realm, that we can have a real experience of stress and deadline-related anxiety. That’s what we queued up in Heaven for a chance to experience down here on Earth. Isn’t it? Well, perhaps not. But if you are looking for some true peace now, you had best summon plenty of patience and forgiveness this week.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
With five-star food, presentation is everything. The garnish, the sauce, the positioning on the plate. But if you are starving, all you want to know is that you have something to eat. Never mind what it looks like or what it is served upon. To what extent now, are you meeting a real need? To what extent are you participating in a ritual and attempting to meet a somewhat artificial expectation? There’s nothing wrong with showing some finesse but it is more important to remember why something is happening in the first place.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Once upon a time, we had law courts and judges. A person was always innocent until proven guilty. These days? The cops catch a suspect and announce it to the press. We all feel instantly sure that the case is closed. After all, the police never make mistakes, do they? There’s now a very tempting, very easy, black and white way to view a situation. Why shouldn’t we just agree with what everyone else thinks? Deep down within, you know the answer to that. You also know that you must do what is right this week.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
What happens when you have too much choice? The tendency is to become entrenched in the familiar. Rather than be overwhelmed by options and alternatives, we cling to what we already know. The downside of this is that we sometimes overlook a new possibility. Much the same principle applies to uncertainty. We don’t like not knowing, so we seize whatever we feel sure of, even if it keeps a new discovery at bay. Under this week’s opposition of Venus and Pluto, if you want to be happier, you need to be more open-minded.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Even the least powerful amongst us have the ability to make a few of somebody else’s dreams come true. There’s always something we can do for those around us. Always something we can give. Always something we can share. Why should we do all that when we can’t even meet our own needs? Because of the ancient ‘law of attraction’. Somehow, indirectly, but inevitably, we get back what we give out. There’s something you want now. The way to get it, at least in part, is to help someone else get what they want.

CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
The Himalayan caves are full of them. Renunciative hermits who dress in sackcloth, live on wild berries and spend thirty years at a time practising difficult yoga positions in total silence. Easy! A piece of cake! Beds of nails? No bother! Comfortable, by comparison to the beds that people like you and I end up making for ourselves and then become obliged to lie in. Nothing in this world is harder than to care about someone or something when the feeling hurts. But then, this week, nothing may prove more rewarding, either.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
‘All roads,’ they say, ‘lead to Rome’. Not so! The Italians may make great pasta, but it hardly puts them at the centre of the universe. How strange that we allow these and similarly nonsensical assertions to pass unchallenged. We believe ourselves to be pivotal to some key situation when, actually, we are peripheral to it. We imagine that if something is predestined, it will happen no matter what we do or don’t do. If you want to go to a particular place now, there is a road that will take you there. Prioritise that this week.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
We all want to be virtuous. Or, at least, we do as long as it doesn’t involve us in too much struggle and sacrifice. Come to think of it, we would not object to a little recognition and appreciation. What is the point of being righteous if nobody notices? How best then to tackle the dilemma before you now? If you want a round of applause this week, you will just do what looks good in the eyes of most observers. Inwardly, though, you know that a very different set of standards needs to be applied for very different reasons.
