Denpasar Police Arrests France for Distributing Cocaine

Drug Investigation Unit of Denpasar City Police arrested a French citizen, initials RY ,24, who distributed cocaine weighing 3.14 grams.

“The suspect was arrested when the cocaine is being offered to a resident,” said Deputy Head of Denpasar Police Assistant Commissioner Nyoman Artana in Denpasar, on Wednesday.

He explained that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday (13/8) while a team of ‘Buru Sergap’ supervised West Marboro street area around 23:30 pm.

When it was about to be arrested, RY tried to escape using his car and got into the parking area of a futsal arena around there.

After the search, officers found the cocaine in the front seat of the suspect’s car.

Police found three plastic clips containing cocaine inside a match.

While at suspect’s house in Uma street Kerobokan, North Kuta, Badung Regency, police found a bong.

“The suspect admitted only as users not dealers,” he said.

However Artana explained that the suspect is not an international syndicate.

RY charged under the law on narcotics with the threat of a maximum of 12 years in prison.

In addition to RY, police also arrested six other suspects during 12-13 August 2014 carrying narcotic type of methamphetamine with a total weight of 33.52 grams.

Those six suspects with initials DK (23), AN (31), WK (35), GS (38), AP (32) and YF (28) could get maximum penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

“So if the evidence totaled from seven suspects, it were estimated at Rp67,8 million,” said Artana.
