A thief who broke into a villa at Pemuteran in Gerokgak on Bali’s north coast beat and robbed a British woman staying there, police said.
They named the woman as Johanna Mayer, 27. They said she was woken by noise in her bedroom about 1am on Sunday. When she screamed, the intruder hit her in the face, causing her to become dizzy and disoriented.
He stole a black wallet containing Rp1 million (US$108) and HK$4,390
($563) in cash, credit cards and ID cards.
Mayer immediately reported the assault and theft to Gerokgak Police. A 22-year-old Pemuteran man, Komang Rastika, was later detained for investigation.
