Fengshui Adjustments

By S.BS. Surendran

Feng Shui is an ancient Oriental belief which speaks energy forces called ‘chi’ OR UNIVERSAL ENERGY  and these forces are present everywhere, even inside our bodies. According to Feng Shui fundamentals a person can help direct these forces to bring good luck, prosperity, happiness, and more.

According to Feng Shui philosophy, chi is influenced by everything concrete in our lives. Our possessions and where they are located can all affect chi energy. Even the layout of our homes and offices affects chi energy. By adding and taking away objects, changing the positioning of furniture, plants, wall art, and more, we can increase our good luck.

A proper analysis of your home or office primarily calls for understanding the compass directions, its influence, the immediate surrounding and environment of your building, the interior layout décor etc. This kind of analysis for sure calls for a professional help to mitigate the ill effects and enhance the good sectors of your home or office.  Few basic Fengshui fundamentals can no doubt be incorporated by many which would be quite general and would offer you some comfort.

Fengshui analysis for a property is unique to that specific space and it is said that all buildings will have specific good and bad sectors. Vaastu or Feng Shui analysis is an art of aligning the space, countering the ill effects of bad sectors and finally enhancing the good sectors of the home or office. The approach to such corrections could be through repairs, renovation, re-decoration or adding or taking off objects. The cures in Fengshui could be as simple as a bowl of plain water to lighting and color effects and the type of correction would depend upon the sector of the building and its use too.

The importance of setting your intention when making corrections and enhancements is very important as it is said that feng shui without mysticism is like a body without a soul and setting intention adds that mystical element.

Primarily you need to  have a clear intention of what you seek to accomplish when making the change. It’s a good idea to take a few minutes to clear your mind, relax and visualize the results you’re seeking prior to implementing Feng Shui changes.
• Groom your yard and pathway, Chi is attracted to land and architecture that’s well maintained.
• An attractive, well-kept door will attract good chi, whereas a run-down door will cause bad chi to enter your home
• Do not store things that you don’t need, de-clutter your space.
• Don’t sit or  sleep if a corner of the house or wall is facing you( sharp corner piercing at you).
• Do not place a dressing mirror near you bed
• Energy comes through windows and doors, so they should always be kept clean
• Place  Couches and chairs such that they face the door, or at least give people sitting on them a clear view of the door.
• Keep the toilet lid shut when the toilet is not in use.

In Feng Shui it is important to harness positive energy and allow it to flow freely. Ensure that there is no obstacle especially when you enter a room, as it will obstruct the smooth flow of energy through the room.

Just as acupuncture works by correcting the flow of chi through the human body, Feng Shui works by correction the flow of chi trough your home. So, follow  basic Feng Shui rules,  to tide over difficult times. Feng Shui corrections  do create good energy and in turn a balanced life when adapted properly.
