23 LP Kerobokan Inmates Move

A total of 23 inmates Peniten-tiary II Class-A Denpasar, Kerobokan, Badung regency, was transferred to the State Prison (Rutan) in Negara, Jembrana regency, to reduce the over-capacity of the largest prison complex in Bali.

“The inmates are transferred today to the Rutan Negara,” said the Chief of Kerobokan prison I Gusti Ngurah Wiratna.

A total of 23 inmates have been convicted with various sentences ranging from two to seven years in prison.

“Hopefully, with the transfer there will be much more space for the inmates at the prison,” he hoped.

He also tried to move inmates from outside Bali to their hometown as LP Kerobokan is already over capacity.

Previously, Secretary of the Directorate General of Correctional Institution, Susi Susilawati, revealed that there will be a gradual removal efforts according to the rules.

“Some will be transferred to several prisons one of them is to Malang (East Java), but of course it must get approval from the central institution because it is not easy,” she said.

In addition to the administrative process, family factor is also a thing to consider before moving the inmates because it was very impactful on their psychological state.

In a special room for women prisoners in Kerobokan prison is occupied by 102that has a capacity of 54 people. While overall, the total of inmates who currently inhabit the Kerobokan penitentiary is 910 people.
