Balinese community responded positively to the appointment of Anak Agung Ngurah Puspayoga as Indonesia’s Minister of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) during the Presidency of Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
“We are grateful that he is believed to manage business cooperatives and SMEs in Indonesia which are generally managed by small community,” said religious social observer Dr. I Ketut Sumadi in Denpasar on Sunday.
Much effort and breakthrough can be done in promoting cooperatives and SMEs, for example, improving the cooperation between the village credit institutions (LPD) in each of the traditional villages in Bali with cooperatives and SMEs.
Similarly, intensify the development of cooperatives and SMEs in urban and rural areas throughout the country, including efforts to integrate with creative economy and tourism.
“He has the ability and experience in developing cooperative businesses and SMEs,” said Ketut Sumadi.
Anak Agung Ngurah Puspayoga was born on July 7, 1965. Since he was teenager he already involved in politics following his father Cokorda Bagus Sayoga (late).
Anak Agung Ngurah Puspayoga became Mayor of Denpasar in 2000-2005 and 2005-2008 as well as the Deputy Governor of Bali in 2008- 2013 accompanied Governor Made Mangku Pastika.
In Bali Governor elections in 2013, Pupayoga who was paired with Dewa Sukrawan was losing from Made Mangku Pastika-I Ketut Sudikerta.
Meanwhile, volunteers of Jokowi in Bali stated that Anak Agung Ngurah Puspayoga has the experience in taking care of the sector when he became mayor of Denpasar.
“He was fighting for people’s economy as SMEs because when he became Mayor of Denpasar he was running the program on an ongoing basis,” said Counselor Volunteers of “semeton” (family) of Jokowi in Bali, Nyoman Sudiantara in Denpasar on Sunday.
“Puspayoga is a person who cares about such a small market empowerment. The village market which was about to ‘die’, he turned it back ‘alive’,” he said.
The consideration of Joko Widodo to choose Ngurah Puspayoga as minister was very appropriate because he has the capacity and capability.
“We hope Puspayoga can work to advance the welfare of the people, not only Bali but also Indonesia,” he said.
