Police officer of Denpasar Resort Police Station arrested five suspects of theft specialize on sanitation and electricity equipment at 50 hotels and new office buildings in some areas of Bali.
“We have been investigated this case since six months ago. Based on the interrogation result, they often come to Bali just for stealing,” Head of Criminal Unit of Denpasar Police Station, Kompol Ambariyadi Wijaya stated in Denpasar.
The suspects, each came with initials Suw (33) a resident of Cilacap, Cental of Java, Ris (29) a resident of Jakarta, SH(32) a resident of Jakarta, Sod(50) a resident of Tanjung Pinang, and Nga(38) who had worked on some hotel construction project in Bali, now are arrested in the prison of Mapolresta Denpasar. One suspect with initials Y had ran away.
Besides they have known the places, they also used some modus operandi for example using the inattention of securities assigned in the hotel construction project.
The suspects usually use a woman to have sweet talk with the securities. After the securities are distracted, the group then carries out the robbery.
“They choose newly built hotels and office buildings because the security system in that places is not really firm,” Ambariyadi stated.
This arrest began when the police received report of theft at Mahenderadattastreet with the same modus operandi.
With information from the residents, the suspects were acknowledged driving Xenia with police number DK 1450 QJ which was a rented car.
The five thieves finally were arrested in a hotel around Ubung Terminal, Denpasar.
According to Ambariyadi, from 50 places of criminal action, the police just checked 30 places spread in Denpasar, Badung regency, Klungkung regency, Tabanan regency, and Gianyar regency. 20 places are in Badung Regency.
The police have gathered some evidences, such as power switch panel, sanitation equipment like tap and tap connector. All of them are branded products taken from Kuta Plaza Hotel and Public Service Building Project at Lumintang, Denpasar.
The police ensured that from those 30 places, the total value of the objects stolen since June 2012 is 5 Billion Rupiah.
Based on the suspect’s confession, the things they stole were sold to a collector with initials A in Jakarta.
