This year’s Nusa Dua Fiesta, from October 15-19, will showcase both Indonesian culture and Bali’s commitment to the environment.
The Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) will again host the fiesta, held in the Bali Collection-Amphitheatre-Beach area of the tourist enclave, in a bid to popularise the Nusa Dua Complex as a world tourism destination.
Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said the festival, on the theme of “Green Tourism,” has the role of showcasing the diversity of cultures and tourism products of Nusa Dua along with environmental concerns including beach clean-ups.
Nusa Dua Fiesta 2010 will feature the Kebo Iwa and Putra Nyale from Lombok, together with dance performances from India and Japan.
BTDC’s chief director, I Made Mandra, said: “As the managers of a 5-star-hotel complex, BTDC has taken steps to preserve the environment earning a Green Globe 21 award as proof positive that as a hotel complex we have a commitment to sustainable tourism.”
Mandra said BTDC is governed by the Balinese concept of “Tri Hita Karana” and can be promoted as a destination that is environmentally concerned.
In this way, he said, a more positive image of Bali tourism can be presented to both the Balinese and the world.
