Money Exchange is Predicted Low


The exchange of money at the office of Bank Indonesia Region III/ Bali -Nusra before Idul Fitri is predicted to be lower than last year.

“If last year Idul Fitri was at the same time as Galungan Day for Hindus so people need on new money was higher than this year,” said the Head of Payment System Team BI Region III, Utang Supriatna in Denpasar.

According to him, BI had served 700 clients in one day before Idul Fitri last year, which was at the same time as Galungan Day.

“Last week in average we served 300 clients per day. Maybe this week is 400 clients per day. However we still anticipate the peak of exchange up to 700 clients per day like last year,” he said.

On the moment before Idul Fitri this year BI Region III prepared Rp5.45 trillions.

“The demand of money everytime before Idul Fitri is always higher than normal days, which is 200 people per day,” he said.

To provide maximum service BI open four money exchange windows at the office of BI Region III in the area of Remind, Denpasar, on weekdays starts from 08.00 am to 12.00 at noon.

In fulfilling people demand on paper money, BI also cooperate with Regional Development Bank (BPD).Bali and 13 units of Public Credit Bank (BPR ) in Bali.

To avoid speculant that take advantage of this moment, BI limit the amount of money exchange, which is maximum Rp4.7 millions per client everyday with denomination of Rp50,000, Rp20,000, Rp10,000, Rp5,000, Rp 2,000, and coins of Rp1,000 and Rp500.
