Three Whales Beached in Sanur

SANUR ~ Three whales became beached on Semawang Beach in Sanur late on Wednesday afternoon, and two died, local residents said.
Local citizen I Wayan Kaligo said that the three-meter-long whales were discovered by a fisherman returning from a fishing trip, but other locals came quickly to help.
“One of the whales was still alive and was returned to the sea by local residents,” Kaligo said.
Residents took meat and oil from the dead whales, and then buried them, he said.
The cause of the whales becoming stranded was unknown, but the tide was low on Tuesday so it was possible that the whales were in shallow water and unable to swim back to the sea.
