RENON ~ Bali’s Tourism Board has announced an adjustment to its target for overseas tourists in 2009, from 2.1 million to 1.8 million, an official said this week.
“We evaluated the impact of the global economic crisis on tourist numbers and decided to decrease our target, spokesman Gede Nurjaya said in Renon on Tuesday.
According to Nurjaya, the decrease of the target is directly related to a slump in the buying power of tourists from several European and Asia-Pacific countries.
However he admitted he did not yet have accurate information about the number of tourists canceling their holidays.
“We have no data about the exact number of cancellations yet; besides, there have also been bookings,” he said.
