Coffee growers received a higher price for coffee beans in the Bali, up Rp2000 to Rp34,000 per kilogram of arabica and to Rp27,000 per kg of robusta.
Main coffee producing areas in Bali include Tabanan, Buleleng, Jembrana, Bangli and Gianyar.
The farmers were encouraged with the prospect of higher profit, head of the regional plantation office I Dewa Made Buana Duwuran said here on Saturday.
I Dewa Made said the prices of Bali’s coffee have always better than the average price in international market as the farmers have been consistent in maintaining good quality.
Farmers grouped in a farm organization called Subak, have always been reminded to pick only fully ripe beans to guarantee quality, he said.
There are 1,127 coffee farmers grouped in Subak in Bali, he added.
Meanwhile, the price of clove is stable at Rp135, 000 per kg in Bali.
The farmers, mainly in Buleleng welcome the price though it is not yet up to a previous peak of Rp200, 000 per kg, a local farmer said.
The farmers in Buleleng hope that the price will pick up as supply is declining as a result of plant disease.
