Bali Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) predicts an average hotel occupancy rate in Bali at the end of year holiday in 2013 to reach 80 percent.
According to him, current hotel booking for the end of year also has started a lot, especially there are several international events to be held in December, which will boost occupancy rates.
“We still hold on to 80 percent in average. Even if there are hotels with up to 100 percent occupancy, but on the other hand there are some still 60 percent,” said Chairman of PHRI Bali Tjokorda Oka Artha Ardana Sukawati, in Denpasar on Tuesday.
He stated that hotels in Kuta and the surrounding area have been the most wanted for December holiday. Not only in demand by foreign tourists, domestic tourists also contribute considerably to increasing occupancy,” he said.
He added that Kuta attracts tourists for its beach and tourist activity.
“This condition is a remarkable chain for Kuta tourism. The more crowded Kuta is, the more people coming to the area,” said the man who is also the former Regent of Gianyar.
The man whose nickname is Cok Ace did not deny that the hectic of Kuta tourism brings impact on traffic jam there.
“Traffic jam is a consequence of the success of Kuta tourism. It ‘s not a problem, we just need to find out how to deal with it,” he said.
Based on the data of foreign tourists visiting the island collected by Provincial Department of Tourism, up to September 2013 it reached 2,409,334 people.
Bali provincial government have target on foreign tourists visiting the area until the end of 2013 to reach 3.1 million people. In the previous year, foreign tourists visiting the island were a total of 2,892,019 people.
