Export of sculptures and various types of wooden souvenirs from Bali in January-October 2013 resulted in income of 80.35 million U.S. dollars, increase 30.69 percent over the same period in 2012.
“The Foreign exchange increase by 30.69 percent over the same period in the previous year, which recorded 61.48 million U.S. dollars” said Head of Public Relations Bali Provincial Government, I Ketut Teneng in Denpasar on Monday.
He said that in terms of shipment volume, the arts commodities increase 37.93 percent from 47.22 million units in the first ten months of 2012 to 55.13 million units in the same period in 2013.
Various types of sculptures as the work of Balinese artists and craftsmen are able to provide a contribution of 20.15 percent of Bali’s total exports reaching 398.75 million U.S. dollars.
Ketut Teneng added that the sculptures that pierce foreign markets are largely made by the craftsmen and artisans in rural areas in Gianyar regency.
