Forecasts for week beginning June 12, 2010.

By Jonathan Cainer

Last week Mercury was in Taurus. This week it’s in Gemini. Mars, too, has moved on – from Leo to Virgo. And Jupiter has gone from Pisces to Aries. Soon Venus will change signs too, moving from Cancer to Leo. In one way, these are minor changes – part of the regular rhythm of the sky. Yet because they’re happening so close together, while rare planetary alignments are forming, we’ll all soon notice a shift in the mood of the world. But as you’ll see from your forecast this week, all the changes and challenges have the potential to be positive.

GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)

We live in a world full of unfamiliar faces. We can’t help but feel a little warmer towards the ones we recognise – especially when we have seen them smiling. You are now forging new connections and exploring acquaintanceships to see what else they might lead to. Be friendly, affable and co-operative. Remember that a little kindness goes a long way. People notice when we are nice to them, even if they don’t say so at the time. Mercury is in your sign. Your power to build bonds and bridges is greater than you think. And someone who can supply a great deal of what you need is nearer to you than you know.

CANCER (June 23 – July 23)

Only weak people feel a need to prove their strength. Those who have real power and influence can afford to take a back seat. They can let others call the shots while they just keep a careful eye on the way things are unfolding. They know that if they really need to intervene, they will be able to do so subtly but successfully when the time is right. You may not know it, but you are in a position of great strength. That’s precisely why you need to be gentle, careful and restrained. Don’t play a trump card this week, until, or unless, you need to. Even the little things you do and say will make more of an impact than you realise.

LEO (July 24 – August 23)

Are you falling under a spell? Are you sleepwalking, blithely, towards an undesirable destiny? If you suspect this may be the case, it is because some aspects of your recent experience make little sense. You can’t quite understand how you got yourself into a particular position. You don’t remember consciously making a crucial choice. You have not, though, been mesmerised or manipulated. If anything has put you in a trance, it has been your own inspiration and imagination. You may yet be glad of what it has dreamed up. Give recent changes a chance to establish themselves before you decide you don’t like them.

VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)

Nothing lasts forever. If, therefore, we wish to attune with eternity, we had best develop an enthusiasm for nothing! I’m not just trying to be clever… or obscure here. Stop and think. What is this entire world if not a classic case of “something” that has been made out of “nothing”? Nothingness is not emptiness. Nothing is the very stuff from which everything in the world is made. Look again at the factor in your life that seems to be “worth next to nothing.” See it from a wider, higher viewpoint. It’s worth a lot. As are you. An absence, a shortage, a “space” in your life is one of the most valuable things that you now have.

LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)

Remember the Wizard of Oz? When Dorothy and her friends finally came to his castle, they were terrified. His voice boomed out so loud with such authority. Yet he was finally revealed to be a mere mortal, weak, gentle and “ordinary.” Your recent journey down life’s “yellow brick road” has brought you uncomfortably close to a scary proposition. Don’t back away this week, get closer still. You feel as if there’s a bill you can’t pay or a demand that you do not know how to meet. The consequence of failure seems terrifying. But if you continue to do your best, you will soon see that you face a tiger with no teeth.

SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)

You are nervous of an apparent opportunity. You don’t know how long it will last or what it’s really worth. You are also not sure how far you can get. You are asking big questions and these may yet produce answers that alter everything. Should you wait until you are sure before you make a commitment? That depends on what your heart is telling you. If something inside feels right this week, believe it. A harmonious alignment between Mars and Pluto is your strong celestial suggestion of imminent success. But to make that a reality, you must trust your instincts, even if you can’t intellectually justify them all.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)

Adventurers never stop looking for new adventures. Even when they have embarked on bold new journeys, they’re always looking out for new possible opportunities. It is, though, one thing to remain alert and another to seize every single chance as it arises. A harmonious alignment from Venus to Jupiter speaks of the chance, this week, to become better off materially… and to develop an emotional or romantic connection. When your chance arises, don’t feel obliged to take it. Be sure you actually want and need what’s on offer and that you’re not just doing something because you can… and so you “might as well.”

CAPRICORN (December 22  – January 20)

You can’t paint a wall with a hammer. You can’t knock in a nail with a brush. Sometimes, though, when we are in a hurry to get a result, we feel we don’t have time to stop and equip ourselves with the correct tools for the job. We try to codge and bodge, using whatever we have to hand. The result is rarely successful. Sooner or later, we have to stop trying to do things the wrong way, separate ourselves from what’s not working for us and gather up a more appropriate set of resources. Don’t struggle on under unsatisfactory circumstances this week. Take the time to get it right, this week, and you will yet get it very right indeed.

AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)

We all have the ability to make a positive contribution to the world, and to do harm. But just because something is possible doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, and it’s often exceedingly helpful to acknowledge a limitation. You may be fully aware that a situation has a downside… or that someone close to you has a dark side. The question is, are you the only one who can see this? Are you dealing with a risk that can be compensated for… or a person who knows how to keep themselves in check? If the answer to one or both of these questions is yes, then you can give your fears a rest. If not, place yourself where it’s safe.

PISCES (February 20 – March 20)

Ancient Samurai wisdom advises us that “Serious matters should always be treated lightly, while trivial issues should be given great respect.” This makes sense. Serious matters must be taken lightly. You’ll blow a fuse in your brain if you give them all the energy they seem to deserve. And, if you attend carefully to trivial matters, you’ll ensure that these don’t later becomes serious! Be wise enough, this week, to stand back. Face a fear and fix a problem yet also relax and be open to opportunity. Venus and Jupiter promise a wonderful new development will arise, as long as you’re not too tense to recognise it!

ARIES (March 21 – April 20)

Most of us like to talk. Few of us like to listen. Most of us like to dream but few of us want to wake up. We may claim that we’re keen to see change but often, secretly, we want to leave things as they are. We all have selective memories. We’re all a little insensitive. We all, sometimes, say one thing and do another. We all make mistakes. With this in mind, let’s look at your big issue this week. It involves a need to deal with someone who has not behaved well. Forgive but don’t forget. Make allowances but don’t make a fool of yourself.  Try to recognise your own inconsistencies before being mad at someone else for theirs.

TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)

There are commitments you must honour. Agreements you must uphold. Promises you must keep and arrangements you must participate in. Even if we put aside the factors that you only “think” you have to take seriously, you are left with a lot of restrictions. It is one thing to be bound by them, another to let them put you under such pressure that you forget who you are and what you really want to do.  Draw some lines this week, and be strong. If you’re truly going to live up to your own highest standards, you must be brave enough to acknowledge and pursue the priorities that others don’t value so much.
