This week, just as the Moon becomes full, Mercury reaches the end of its recent retrograde phase, restoring clarity to confused situations. Meanwhile, Mars forms a powerful conjunction to Pluto. We usually associate this with the release of ‘pent-up energy’. But, in the two years since this last happened, Pluto and Uranus have begun the series of seven squares that lasts till 2015. Mars encourages them to repeat their ‘wake-up’ call to the world, producing revelations that make us wonder, ‘How much of the past can we be proud of?’ and ‘What future do we really want?’
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Sooner or later, we must all take risks. No matter how cautious our character, we will inevitably find ourselves in situations that cannot be resolved through sensible steps. Small steps into the unknown are essential if we are to remain lively and interesting. It’s the large, reckless leaps in this direction that are to be avoided. You are now being asked to make much more of an ‘educated guess’ than you would like to. You wish you had more to go on. But you know more than enough to see you through.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
‘If it hasn’t happened yet, perhaps it will never happen.’ That’s your fear. But that isn’t very logical or reasonable. Of course, it can happen. Anything can happen. To conclude otherwise, would be like deciding to build an ark, just because it has been raining a lot lately. It’s fairer and much more inspiring to say, ‘If there really could be a flood that bad, all bets are off about what is or isn’t possible!’ There could just as easily be a miracle as a disaster! Your greatest hope is not some fantasy; it is the real shape of a real future.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
The phones in our pockets contain computers more powerful than the machines that, 30 years ago, took up entire rooms and had to be tended by teams of technicians. We have such technology at our fingertips. We can do astonishing things. Yet so much remains beyond reach – hopelessly, tantalisingly, frustratingly impossible. You can make an enormous difference in one area of life. In another, it seems there is nothing you can do. Actually, though, you have a hidden ability, as you will see this week.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Given a choice between happiness and sadness, who wouldn’t opt for the former? Actually, you would be surprised. People are perverse. Some feel that they can truly be happy only when they are feeling sad. Others find that all their sources of happiness eventually lead to sorrow. So, if they just make the negative choice in the first place, at least they will avoid disappointment. Anyway, I mention all this only by way of illustration, not suggestion. You face a pretty clear choice this week. Don’t complicate it.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Each time you think you have left the past behind, it creeps up on you, taps you on the shoulder and says, menacingly, ‘remember me?’ You keep doing deals with yesterday in the hope that these will free you to enjoy an easier tomorrow. Somehow, though, negotiations break down or unexpected issues arise. Suddenly, you’re back in the very situation you felt so keen to escape. Changing events will soon help you to move on. It will take a little while before you really pick up momentum. But once you do, you will be unstoppable.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
All will turn out well this week, or at least it will as long as you don’t try to take on too much. Given your propensity to accept more responsibility than you ought to, this may require some self-discipline. You are waiting for things to happen. But some things just don’t happen unless you wait. Plants, for example, can be hot-housed, but there is still a limit to how fast they will grow. Something natural is developing now, just as fast as it can. Try neither to hurry it along, nor give up in frustration. It’s worth being patient.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Children’s storytellers of ancient times have a lot to answer for. All those fairy godmothers and happy-ever-after. All that honest endeavour rewarded, and evil greed thwarted. What a pity the world isn’t really like that. Why isn’t it? Because we all think of ourselves as the innocent heroes, even when we happen to be acting like the dark villains. None of us ever says, ‘I’m being bad now.’ We have our justifications and we believe in them. This week, though, there will be no true progress unless you are honest with yourself.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
First, an event takes place or decision is made. Then, the implications sink in. The results arrive. The side-effects show up. So, er… maybe, this week, you’re dealing with the inevitable outcome of something that has already been done. Apart from one thing, that is. How things pan out next will depend on how you react to a reaction. Mercury’s change of direction suggests that you can compound a problem – or reduce it. You can go deeper into conflict – or reach for peace. You can be wise… or impassioned. Choose well.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Sometimes, you have just got to be strong. There is no sense in letting a situation upset you. Now, that is easy advice to give. But how are you supposed to take it when you are in the midst of stress and strife? You know perfectly well what you would say to someone who is standing in similar shoes. But would you expect them to listen? What is the one thing you could do or say that might make them pay attention, see sense and steer towards safety, serenity and success? Well then, say that to yourself this week!
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Hope springs eternal. But what are you hoping for now? Take just a moment to separate the object of your desire from the experience of that desire. We ‘enjoy’ wanting things. We also, of course, enjoy getting them, but the two types of enjoyment are different. And sometimes, in our hunger to keep having the latter sensation, we conjure up a shopping list of items that we don’t really need or want. So, what are you hoping for now? With Mars now in your sign there’s a chance you could get it. Make sure you are sure.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
When are you going to keep that promise that you made me? You don’t remember making a promise? How very convenient. I’m sure you really don’t want to make that effort. But you said you would, and I must hold you to it. Now you are confused, aren’t you? What did you promise? Nothing! I am just trying to demonstrate how easy it is to play on someone’s sense of obligation. Make an individual feel guilty, and suddenly, you can get almost anything out of them. But this week, you really don’t owe anything to anyone.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Some people make it their life’s work to take the magic out of everything. It’s not that they seek a deeper understanding or a smarter explanation; it is more that they pour scorn on anything remotely mystical, intuitive or otherworldly. The upshot of this is that we all feel slightly guilty if we ever have an idea that we cannot logically justify. It seems that actions based on irrational feelings are to be apologised for. Yet, deep in your heart now, a very ancient form of wisdom is offering guidance. Listen to it.
