The end of the week brings a Full Moon on Valentine’s Day. Is that an auspicious romantic omen? Artists and film directors seem to think so. What better background to set against a courting couple than a glowing globe rising high against a curtain of twinkling stars. Yet, astrologers know that while powerful passions can definitely get unleashed at such times, we have also seen how Full Moons can exacerbate tension and dispute. There may not be much to draw from the well of forgiveness later this week but the pan of passion may yet give forth much steam!
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Don’t fight fire with fire. Don’t lower your standards just because others seem to be lowering theirs. Don’t decide that if you can’t beat ‘em you may as well join ‘em. Protect and preserve the integrity of your highest beliefs and your most nobly held positions. Do so calmly, even regally, if you can manage to manifest such an air. Act as if you have both right and might on your side – even if you’re not quite so sure about the ‘might’ bit. Confidence on your part now, will produce a miraculous change in someone else’s attitude.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
It isn’t easy to dance to the sound of a single instrument. Sometimes, if the musician is lively, you can get your toes tapping. But when there’s a bassist and a drummer, something extra happens. For some while lately, in your effort to tackle a challenging matter, you’ve been a solo player. Now, the cosmos grants you support. As you start to discover what a team can achieve, you gain the power to make a real impact. Even where someone hasn’t been dancing to your tune lately, they’ll soon become more responsive.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Mercury now begins a retrograde phase. Despite what some astrologers seem to say about this influence, that’s a blessing – at least as far as you are currently concerned. Recent weeks have been intense. You are still dealing with a ‘loaded’ situation. Strong feelings have been triggered, concerns have arisen and questions remain annoyingly unanswered. Yet whether you have reason to feel happy or sad is unclear. Soon, though, light will shine in the darkness and you’ll see why it is appropriate to smile.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Sometimes we remember more than we need to, yet we forget what we ought to recall. Or we join up the dots that we can see before our eyes and create pictures based more on a wild imagination than a realistic appraisal of facts. As we move slowly, this week, towards a Full Moon in a sensitive part of your chart we find you mulling over a seemingly complicated matter that touches on your sense of security. The more attention you give it, the more convoluted it becomes. So pay it less attention. And relax.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
You need to be consistent and give commitment to a plan that has already been set in motion. But we’re edging each day this week towards a Full Moon in Leo. Hence your sensitivity to diversions and distractions. You’re not sure you know what you ought to be focusing on… or even if you do, you’re not so sure you want to do what you feel you probably ought to do! You’ve got a difference of opinion between two different parts of yourself. Though that divide will first increase, eventually it will be bridged!
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
When we see a magician pull a rabbit from a hat, we are impressed. Once we discover where it had been cunningly concealed all along, astonishment turns to appreciation. ‘Not so surprising after all,’ we think. And we feel silly for having let ourselves get excited. But should we feel any less moved by a stunning sunset because we grasp the science behind it? Mercury, as it turns retrograde, helps you gain a deeper understanding of a sensitive situation this week. But that doesn’t render your emotions irrelevant,
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
Think of this forecast as a ‘traffic report’. The main road from here to the place you want to reach may be blocked. Traffic is due to tail back for miles. But there is another route. You can acquire enough local knowledge to work this out. You may have to go a few extra miles – but your destination is attainable. Don’t worry about what seemingly can’t be done. With Mars still in your sign, now edging into a state of harmony with the Sun, you just need to make a few adjustments in the light of changing circumstances.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Why do some people drink bottled water when perfectly good, refreshing liquid comes freely from their kitchen tap? What’s the logical extension of this? One day, will some enterprising marketeer will sell affordable portable oxygen tanks and masks for those who want to feel that they’re not just breathing any old ordinary air? Now, how many of this week’s biggest questions, for you, involve obvious solutions that somehow seem unacceptable? This week shows you a much easier way to meet a simple need.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
You have already begun to notice a change in your situation. You have found yourself becoming more able to attain goals and persuade people to co-operate with you. This is nothing by comparison to a breakthrough that you may be able to make in coming weeks and months. Rethink, this week, any plans that are currently based on negative expectations. It’s not disaster that you should be preparing yourself for. It’s more important to make sure you are ready for the chance of success when it comes.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
If people are born to be happy, why do so many of them spend so much time feeling uncomfortable? Why do we all find so much to complain about? Or to regret? Perhaps we can attain contentment simply by overcoming our attraction to unhappiness! Instead of seeing something we don’t like and letting this confirm a pessimistic opinion, don’t we merely need a way to make things better? This week brings you the chance to take a brighter view of a seemingly grim situation. Be brave enough to be hopeful.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
When we enter a trivia quiz, it’s amazing how many facts we find ferreted away in the back of our minds. Even if we can’t get all the questions right, we turn out to have access to surprisingly large mines of information about some matters at least. Our blessings are a bit like our inner reservoirs of facts. We tend to imagine we don’t have very many. Once we start really looking for them we discover that we have far more than we can ever count. Life now allows you to recognise a gift you have long been undervaluing.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Two or three times a year for two or three weeks at a time, Mercury turns retrograde. Those born under the sign in which this process is happening are particularly blessed with a rare opportunity to reflect, review and revisit the past. Though Mercury will eventually slip back out of your sign for a while, before it turns once more, you are now finding it possible to change decisions that you have begun to regret. Don’t feel frustrated about an apparent lack of progress recently. Celebrate this week’s timely revelation.
