2013 is likely to be remembered as the ‘year of the comet’. Thanks to Halley’s comet, 1910 was one of those too. another big year for stunning celestial signs was 1066. That was Halley’s comet also, depicted in the famous Bayeux Tapestry as a symbol of doom for Harold and victory for William. The current comet, Panstarrs, has nothing to do with Halley’s discovery. But it is still amazing and we haven’t seen the back of it yet. Later this year, we’re due an even brighter sight called ISON. Such forces are effectively omens of highly positive global change.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Have you got a difficult week ahead? Should you be preparing yourself for stress, struggle, tension and trouble? Absolutely not! Mars is now in your sign offering you significant strength and reliable support. You will see the truth in this all the more swiftly if you adopt a more optimistic attitude. Difficulties find it much easier to make their way into our lives when they realise that we are busily preparing for them. Work on the assumption that you face nothing you can’t cope with… and you will rapidly find that this is the case.
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
Let us assume that you are hungry. If you see something that looks nice to eat, you’re likely to assume it must be right for you. It’s hard to stand back and ask: ‘Would this food still appeal to me if my tummy weren’t rumbling?’ A need, though, should be understood for what it is… Just as a potential source of fulfilment should also be appraised objectively. This week, try not to want something so badly that you’re prepared to accept almost any chance of temporary satisfaction. Hold out for what’s truly the best.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Never do your supermarket shopping when you’re hungry, never negotiate a contract when feeling insecure, never set out on a journey when you’re in a rush. All good advice, but not always so easy to take. Needs must be responded to, regardless of how right the time may be. You now have a rare chance to plan for a future requirement while there’s still enough time to consider it carefully. Don’t wait till you have run out of options. Strike while the iron is luke-warm and you’ll avoid the risk of scorching yourself later.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
Do baby sparrows have to attend aerodynamic instruction classes? Are they taught the rudiments of navigation by the older birds? Do they have to read books and pass exams? Or do they somehow, instinctively, just ‘know’ what to do? We are all of us, naturally, far more capable than we realise. We take our intellect too seriously and pay insufficient heed to the more subtle inner voice of our intuition. Right now, you have a very strong feeling about something. You are completely right to trust it this week.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
‘Don’t just stand there, DO something…’ That’s what people say to one another when they feel they need help urgently. In a way though, they may just as well say, ‘don’t just stand there, DO nothing’. For it often turns out to be wiser to take no action at all. Wiser, yet harder. We are brought up to believe that strenuous effort is commendable, whereas, inaction represents a form of laziness. Not so. You honestly don’t need to go out and chase anything or anyone this week. What’s right for you will come right to you.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Mercury, as it changes direction in your opposite sign this week, suggests that opportunity is knocking at your door. You can, of course, close the curtains and pretend that you are not at home. You could even sneak quietly out of the back door and go somewhere else entirely, returning only after your great chance has given up and turned away. But why would you want to do that? Unless, just possibly, you are anxious and apprehensive. Perhaps you fear that this is the wrong kind of opportunity. But it isn’t!
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
There’s no easy way to do what must be done this week. You must take account of a particular ‘hard fact’ and act accordingly. If you try to ignore it, events will oblige you to sit up and take notice. Bad news? Not really. You face a difficult decision that is likely to involve compromise or temporary hardship. But no matter how you try to sweeten or soften it, the move is one you have long needed to make. Be honourable, courageous, wise, firm yet moderate. Then you’ll get results that are right in every way.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Imagine a wobbly table. You can’t write on it or eat off it easily, because the legs are not all on the floor. So, out comes the saw. You adjust the legs in an attempt to get it level. But now, it wobbles in another place. On you go, until the table has no legs left. It is just a piece of wood lying flat on the floor… still wobbling! Far better to stuff a bit of card under the short leg. Always wiser to add than subtract. You don’t now need to get rid of anything from your life. You just need to add something this week. And you can!
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Be gentle, be subtle, be sensitive. You do not need to assert yourself or to make a dramatic gesture. Your greatest request has been heard by a kind cosmos. It is already doing all it can to support you. But your order is tall. It may take a while to fulfil it. Have faith. Act as if you are quietly confident of success with a key plan or project. If, for any reason, you do not get the outcome that you are hoping for it will only be because an even better possibility is on offer – one that you have so far failed to spot.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
Expect the unexpected. There you go. The most useless advice you will ever get. How can you benefit from that? If you know what to expect, it will no longer be unexpected! And if you don’t know what to expect… how can you prepare for it? You are not sure what to make of a situation. Every time you think things through, you reach a different conclusion. Every time you talk them over, you hear a different opinion. Yet it is not the unexpected that is eluding you now. It is the obvious! As soon, rather delightfully, you’ll see.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Someone, somewhere… needs your help. Someone, somewhere else, needs it too. Indeed, come to think of it, there are nearly seven billion people on this planet and they are all equally keen for you to put your own priorities to one side whilst you give them a hand with theirs. Are you obliged to do this? Of course not. Are you somehow incapable of saying the word ‘no’? Er… Maybe the truth is, that you like being stretched to capacity. If so, fine. But if you are not enjoying it, try saying as much this week. Loudly.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
You are trying hard to make sense of a situation that you don’t fully understand, yet the more you try to get to grips with it, the more perplexing it becomes. Each time you think you are finally taking a realistic view, something new suddenly crops up. What you are going through is what some people call a valuable learning process and others call a tricky patch. Which is it? Both, but, Venus, Mercury and Neptune together suggest you will soon identify at least one reassuring factor that you can feel totally confident about.
