“What the world needs now is…” well, according to the song, it’s “love, sweet love” and, of course, that’s true. Venus, in September, moves into Scorpio, as does Mars. That’s not quite a promise of strangers hugging in the streets – but it at least implies that those who are looking for love, this month, will find it more easily. Meanwhile, Jupiter and Uranus suggest that what the world may also need, right now, is a “new idea.” Whether or not it needs one, it is likely to get one. Watch for a fresh fashion or a surprising global trend.
VIRGO (August 24 – September 23)
Mercury remains in Virgo through September. Does that mean you need to be on your best behaviour? Are there vices you should refrain from and virtues you should foster? Of course. Always. But there’s nothing intrinsically virtuous about self-denial and nothing inherently sinful about looking for loopholes in laws. Mercury, the ruler of your sign, is a planet of smart arguments and clever negotiations. It definitely favours those with high moral standards. But you’re never going to compromise those. This month, you’re just going to find a way to apply them whilst still making gains that you have long deserved.
LIBRA (September 24 – October 23)
In a good relationship, there is plenty of room for argument. There can be vast differences of opinion, even disputes and conflicts. As long as there is also respect, there is no problem. Conversely, with people who can agree about almost everything, it doesn’t follow that they trust or truly care about each other. Remember that in September. Remember, too, that an “easy life” is not quite the same as a meaningful life. When we have it all our own way, we risk making the horrible discovery that our own way is not a particularly good way after all! If your fight, this month, is clean and fair, it will result in an outcome that all can accept.
SCORPIO (October 24 – November 22)
Imagine you are standing on a low step. Below you, there’s a small drop. The only thing is, you don’t know this. Your eyes are shut. You were blindfolded some while ago… then led to this position via a convoluted route. All the way, someone has been whispering in your ear. They have been talking about canyons and chasms. Towering skyscrapers. Parachute drops and bungee jumps. So now, you’re nervous. The idea of a leap of faith seems terrifying. ALL you have to do, in September, is open your eyes, recognise a reassuring reality… and stop believing in a false, fearful idea of what’s really going on.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 – December 21)
Sometimes, it is only when we get close to the edge that we appreciate the importance of “middle ground.” Safe, secure situations can seem a little dull and unrewarding. When we go to the extreme, we generate excitement. That excitement, though, is much easier to sustain if, instead of pushing ever further into troublesome territory, we return to the world of the familiar, bringing a little of our adventure back with us. Don’t feel obliged to go further this month. You’ve come a remarkably long way in recent weeks and months. Now, you’re entitled to take a break before you set out to break yet more new ground.
CAPRICORN (December 22 – January 20)
How difficult is your task? Some people seem to think it is daunting and complicated. This is either because they don’t understand it fully or they do but they want you to engage their help. Actually, though, you need little assistance in September. If you gather information and overcome your fear of the unknown, you will make short work of all you find yourself feeling obliged to do. Instinctively, you already understand what’s needed. If you are worried that you may get into trouble, persist until the trouble actually arises. There’s a good chance that it will loom on the horizon but will never actually approach you.
AQUARIUS (January 21 – February 19)
Are you inconsistent? Not really. You are consistently inconsistent. Predictably unpredictable. Even if you change your mind as often as some people change their socks, at least this ensures your thoughts are always fresh! A companion might well like you to take one line and stick with it now. That’s their problem. If you deny your intense (and important) need to remain flexible in September, you’ll create a problem you need not have. If you’re not changing, you’re not growing. If you’re not growing, you’re stuck! Interestingly, if you embrace change this month, even those who oppose it will yet embrace it (and you) too.
PISCES (February 20 – March 20)
Families frolic on beaches. They smile around the breakfast table. They snuggle up cosily on the sofa. Or, at least, they do when the directors of TV commercials are trying to create an image that pulls on our heartstrings. In reality, families feud. They bicker and battle, sulk and strop. They treat their close involvement as a reason to be ruder to one another than they would ever be to a stranger. All families have black sheep, skeletons in the closet and seismic fault lines that could trigger an emotional earthquake at any moment. September brings dramas close to home but they may yet have very happy outcomes.
ARIES (March 21 – April 20)
Success goes to the head like some intoxicating liquor. Failure goes to the heart like some powerful anaesthetic. Both conditions wear off quickly, though, naturally, we try to maintain the more enjoyable state. But if we hang on too long to a sense of triumph, we get overconfident. And if we dwell on disappointment, we become foolish. Jupiter, in September, slips out of your sign, causing you to see recent developments differently. As your perspective changes, resist the urge to be too decisive or hasty. September won’t bring disappointment but it may show you how some old apparent losses were actually gains!
TAURUS (April 21 – May 21)
We all like to feel as if we know where we stand. That’s why we are often attracted to tasks that don’t really pose us too much of a challenge. We don’t want to risk creating a problem that we don’t know how to handle. But no matter how hard we try to ensure that our lives run only along smooth, straight lines, the cosmos remains determined to send us down rough and winding roads. That’s why you currently find yourself up against a difficult situation. There’s no easy way to solve your problem. In September, though, you will identify a way that’s at least “not impossible” even if it requires you to enter unfamiliar territory.
GEMINI (May 22 – June 22)
Libraries are full of books about how to fix almost any problem or conquer any vice. Somewhere out there, some people must be addicted to such publications. Perhaps they need to read a book on how to stop themselves from reading so many books! A lot of our problems aren’t really problems. It’s just that we are judgemental characters. We are so fond of “rights” and “wrongs” that we sometimes apply them inappropriately. We worry about things that are fine. We feel bad about factors we need not be ashamed of. But all you need to do, in September, is relax and what needs fixing will start to fix itself.
CANCER (June 23 – July 23)
The past is not a closed book. History CAN be rewritten. It’s perfectly possible to look back on an event that happened years ago and suddenly see it in a different light. In September, you get to revisit an old experience and understand something about it that never made sense to you before. You also get to see why a choice, that you have often regretted or doubted was much wiser than you once thought. Let that give you confidence for the future. You think you know what you’re dealing with now and what your current options are. You don’t know the half of it yet, though. Prepare to be pleasantly surprised.
LEO (July 24 – August 23)
Who were you in your last life? Who will you be in your next life? None of us can know. We can imagine and believe. But though we can speak with certainty about who we were yesterday, a veil prevents us knowing who we were before we came here or where we will go when we leave. The veil that prevents us from seeing that our more immediate future is made of similar material. In September, you can lift a corner of that veil and catch a glimpse of what might lie ahead. Expect to see something inspiring. Trust it and work to make it real. Never mind who you were or will be. Who you are now is someone special!
